“Glasshopper’s second bursts with emotional intensity. From I Go to Bed at 10pm’s twangy propulsion to Take Out The Sun’s ruminative sprawl, this intersecting sax/guitar/drums trio re-prove their mettle as wordless storytellers with laser focus.”

★★★★

MOJO Magazine

"Young UK jazz/post-rock outfit Glasshopper display their Polar Bear-to-Radiohead versatility in guitar/sax clamours, ambient murmurings and jaunty rockers, with I’m Not Telling You Anything (Clonmell Jazz Social)."

The Guardian

"Some of the tracks here would have sat well on Thrill Jockey and others tap at ECM‘s door before running away laughing, and although serious subjects are tackled, the exuberance can not be tamed."

- freq magazine

“Glasshopper’s Im Not Telling You Anything is a compelling listen, a sound that grabs your attention and promises a wild ride of a listen. The almost indie guitar bed that it rests on , the empathetic punctuation of the percussion and the restless sax flawlessly take you from high octane punk jazz to electronic introspection across a tracklist of memorable new tunes. The torch is lit, watch them ascend!”
- Max Reinhardt, Soho Radio

Take Five Presents: Glasshopper | EFG London Jazz Festival 2020

Jonathan Chung - tenor saxophone/effects James Kitchman - guitar/effects Corrie Dick - drums and cymbals After years of cultivating their sound and captivating audiences around the UK, London based trio Glasshopper emerge with their anticipated debut, Fortune Rules. Led by Scottish saxophonist/composer Jonathan Chung, the group brings together the creative minds of guitarist James Kitchman and drummer Corrie Dick to cultivate a sound "which is at once heavy as hell and soaring weightless.” - Good Evening Arts. This unit of focused players explore melody and improvisation with complete reverence and abandon. Always aspiring to search for fresh interpretations, the bass-less line up blurs the lines between the jazz, folk and the rock realms. Seldom settling, always searching. The release, due on October 30th 2020 with Norwegian label AMP Records & Music, is an abstract tale of Jonathan’s experiences, thoughts and a suggestion of things to come for the band. Intricately weaving together moments of sonic bliss and euphoric rock-outs, it seeks to capture and reveal these three musical voices that inspire Jonathan's writing, and form the sound of Glasshopper.
